I have had this printer a few weeks now.Bought after much research, to go with a new windows 7 computer.
The inital wireless setup of my printer was a nightmare. But partly due to my own fault.Once the penny dropped it was easy. Have to say it is much easier to follow directions on the canon site rather than the booklets that come in the box. They are in so many languages they can be very confusing. I would knock a star off for that but will keep the marks to the machine itself. I rarely bother following the 'destructions' with many items as they just confuse or are useless. But with this I did need some guidence regarding the wireless setup as I have never had a wireless printer before.
First impressions and results when printing were somewhat disappointing. I previously owned HP or Epson printers and colour was always bold with crisp sharp images. However much to my dismay, this was not the case with this Canon printer. Pale colours, even wishy washy and not as sharp as with my previous HP machine.I thought maybe it was due to the printer being new and maybe the cartridges were a bit old in the box or something. Other people told me Canon printers use less ink and that's why colours aren't so strong.I even emailed Canon in the end as I couldn't change the intensity of colour or anything. Canon replied fairly promptly, but weren't that helpful in solving my problem. They told me to up date a couple of things, but they were already updated so made no difference. To say the least I was more than hacked off as I was expecting something short of wonderful with this printer.
I had been printing images I had imported into Nova Greeting card factory deluxe version 8, bought for a brand new windows 7 computer, also using on my vista laptop. I had no problems with previous versions of this software on xp and using a HP psc. Anyway, in the end it was apparent that the colour intensity etc of graphics imported into the card factory could not be changed. But there is no such problem when graphics are used directly from craft cds or imported into Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist. I don't even need to tweak the intensity etc for the desired results. Most things just print correctly first time.
Copy and scan I would say are possibly better than my previous HP. I haven't done a great deal of either but very happy with them so far. Thanks to the quiet mode feature, this is the quietist printer I have ever had. It looks stylish and fits perfectly where it sits near our desktop in a room upstairs. It is also so useful being able to use it from my laptop when I am downstairs.
A few weeks ago I wouldn't have given this machine even 3 stars, but once I was able to print things to my satisfaction, my opinion of the printer completely changed. I am now delighted with it and highly recommend it for card making. I have a good collection of craft cds so need to be able to get excellent results. Being somewhat a perfectionist, I certainly wouldn't recommend this machine unless I was completely happy with it myself. Can now say I truly am! But I do suggest referring to the canon website for clearer instructions and guidelines.

Have looked around for a new printer. After reading the reviews decided this was the one for me. If I can install it any one can. It was sooooooooooo easy.

Firstly the printer performance is fine, great even. Speed of fine, quality is very good and it is all good while things are working. However the overriding fact is that I have had 3 delivered and 3 have malfunctioned in some way or other in the space of 6 months. Amazons customers service has been faultless and they have apologised but its simply not their fault.
The 1st 2 printers had an error code which when we rang the canon service line they knew straightaway it couldn't be fixed. The latest one something went pop, a smell of burning or hot electronics came from it and that was it. It wasn't the plug fuse if thats what you were thinking.
I have 2 other canon printers, both of which, fingers crossed have performed faultlessly for 2 and 5 years. I am hesitant to recommend this product because I just think they have an inherent flaw which means you will suffer a breakdown.
